Truck tire aging is an issue that deserves serious attention — it not only affects tire performance and lifespan but also directly impacts driving safety.
PAXXON always cares about every user’s tire safety, and is committed to providing longer-lasting and more reliable protection for your transportation journey through professional design and high-quality materials.
Below are some key facts and countermeasures regarding truck tire aging:
Causes of Aging
Natural aging:
Rubber naturally ages over time — even unused tires may harden or crack after long storage.
Environmental influences:
High temperatures, humidity, and UV exposure accelerate rubber aging. For instance, long-term driving or parking in high-temperature conditions significantly speeds up the aging process.
Driving habits and road conditions:
Frequent hard braking, rapid acceleration, overloading, or driving on poor roads (such as potholes or gravel surfaces) increase tire wear and deformation, accelerating aging.
Signs of Aging
Surface changes:
Cracks and fissures appear on the tire surface, especially on the sidewalls and tread edges. The rubber becomes harder, less elastic, and rough to the touch.
Performance decline:
Reduced grip, longer braking distances, and lower flexibility may cause vibration or abnormal noise while driving. Tire pressure may become unstable, increasing the risk of air leaks.
Bulges or damage:
Internal cord breakage or deformation may cause bulges on the tread surface. Surface damage or missing rubber can occur, and in severe cases, this may lead to a blowout.
PAXXON’s Recommended Countermeasures
1. Regular Inspections
· Check tire pressure weekly to ensure it remains within the manufacturer’s recommended range. Abnormal pressure accelerates aging.
· Inspect tire appearance monthly. Replace the tire immediately if cracks, bulges, or other visible damage are found.
· When tread depth approaches 2 mm, replace the tire in time.
2. Proper Use and Maintenance
· Avoid long exposure to high temperatures or direct sunlight — park in shaded areas whenever possible.
· Minimize sudden braking, rapid acceleration, and overloading to reduce tire fatigue and deformation.
· Rotate tires every 10,000–20,000 km to ensure even wear.
3. Timely Damage Handling
· Repair or replace tires that have been punctured or cut as soon as possible.
· Replace any tire with sidewall damage immediately.
· For tires showing clear signs of aging, replace them early — even if the tread has not yet reached the wear limit.
The tire is the only component in contact between the truck and the road, and its condition directly affects your safety and the safety of others.
PAXXON uses an anti-aging rubber compound and reinforced structural design to effectively resist damage caused by UV rays, ozone, and high temperatures. This extends tire lifespan and ensures every journey is safer and more efficient.
